Effects of Substrate Water Content and Seed Soaking with Medicaments on Seed Germination of Annona Atemoya

    • In order to improve the germination ability of Annona atemoya seeds and solve the problems of low germination rate, slow germination and non-concentration, the fine sand was used as the substrate, and the water content of the substrate was set at 5%, 7.5%, 10% and 12.5%, and the seeds were soaked with different chemicals (gibberellin 100 mg·L−1, 200 mg·L−1; rooting powder 100 mg·L−1, 200 mg·L−1; 1% and 2% of sodium nitrate; 0.5% and 1% of sodium hydroxide; 1% and 2% of oxalic acid; 1% and 2% of hydrogen peroxide; 1% and 2% of thiourea). Then, the indicators such as the germination rate, germination potential, and germination index were measured to explore the effects of different treatments on the germination of Annona atemoya seeds. It was found that the treatments with 5% and 7.5% ofsubstrate water content had higher germination rate and germination index, which was more beneficial to thegermination of Annona atemoya seeds. The results showed that the treatments with 5% and 7.5% of substrate water content had higher germination rate and germination index, which was more beneficial to the germination of Annona atemoya seeds. The germination potential of seeds treated with 7.5% of substrate water content was significantly greater than that treated with 5% of substrate water content, and the germination duration of seeds treated with 7.5% of substrate water content was significantly shorter than that treated with 5% of substrate water content, with neat germination and reduced germination duration by 52.63%. Among different types and concentrations of seed soaking treatments, the germination rate, germination potential and germination index of the seed soaking treatment with 1 % thiourea were the highest, which were 79.36 %, 63.49 % and 0.67 grains/d, respectively. It was the most conducive to the germination of Annona atemoya seeds, and the germination duration was shorter than that of water control. In summary, the results showed that soaking seeds with 1 % thiourea for 24 h and using the fine sand with water content of 7.5 % as the substrate were beneficial to improve the germination ability of Annona atemoya seeds.
