Abstract:
The contents of total flavonoids and total stilbenes in different germplasms of
Cajanus cajan leaves and different parts of
C. cajan were investigated, to provide a scientific basis for the rational harvesting and utilization of
C. cajan resources. The contents of total flavonoids and total stilbenes in leaves of 186 germplasms of
C. cajan, and in different parts such as leaves, flowers, and pods of five representative germplasms of
C. cajan, were determined using ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The results demonstrated significant differences in contents of total flavonoids and total stilbenes among different germplasms and different parts of
C. cajan. The contents of total flavonoids in leaves of 186 different germplasms of
C. cajan were primarily within 8%, accounting for 98.92% of the tested resources, while the contents of total stilbenes were mainly below 1.5%, also accounting for 98.92% of the tested resources. The M236 leaves exhibited the highest total flavonoid content, and the M45 leaves showed the highest total stilbenes content, while the six germplasm samples M42, M81, M14, M13, M39, and M67 leaves demonstrated contentsof total flavonoids higher than 5% and total stilbenes higher than 1%, making them high-quality germplasm resources materials for the extraction of total flavonoids and total stilbenes. The contents of total flavonoids and total stilbenes in leaves of five
C. cajan germplasms were all higher than those in flowers and pods, indicating that leaves were the optimal raw material for extracting flavonoids and stilbenes active compounds.
