Abstract: The management of scientific research projects is an important part of scientific research. The major problems existing in the management of research projects of agricultural research institutes at the current stage, i.e., team quality needs urgently enhancing, the management level needs improving, were analyzed. Based on the current problems, the corresponding countermeasures on how to perfect management mechanization, optimize management environment and improve management efficiency were proposed, including six aspects that enhancing understanding on the importance of scientific research project management, strengthening the construction of scientific research project management team; clarifying the practical responsibilities of scientific research project management, improving the incentive mechanism for personnel of scientific research project management, constructing information management platform, strengthening awareness of scientific research archives, etc.
