Abstract:
The weight and size traits of Daiyun goats in 12-month-old before and after breeding were compared and studied. The results showed that the weight and size traits of 12-month-old ram and ewe were improved in different degrees after two consecutive years of breeding. Among them, weight gain was the largest. The increase of weight, height, length and chest circumference of rams were 4.48%, 1.99%, 2.06%, 1.66%, while ewes were 2.29%, 1.39%, 0.77% and 1.36%, respectively. However, there was no significant difference in the production performance indexes of rams before and after breeding (
P>0.05), and also the ewes(
P>0.05), which indicated that the genetic progress of weight and size traits in Daiyun goats was slow.
