Abstract:
To further identify the dominant populations of thrips on different host crops in different regions of Fujian Province, and grasp the distribution of thrips at different host growth stages in different regions. In this study, the species survey of thrips in 60 counties of 9 cities in Fujian Province was carried out. At the same time, 3 fixed fruit and vegetable monitoring bases were selected to investigate the populations of thrips in different hosts and different growth stages for a period of two years(2017—2018). The results showed that there were mainly 6 kinds of thrips(
Frankliniella intonsa Trybom,
Thrips palmi Karny,
Thrips hawaiiensis Morgan,
Megalurothrips usitatus Bagrall, Phlaeothripidae and
Gynairothrips uzeli Zimmerman), among which
F. intonsa,
T. palmi and
M. usitatus were the dominant populations, distributed in 9 cities in Fujian Province, followed by Phlaeothripidae(not found in Xiamen City only), and
T. hawaiiensis and
G. uzeli tubularis were only distributed in a few cities in Fujian Province. The kinds of thrips on luffa, okra and eggplant was the most(5 kinds), followed by capsicum and cowpea, but no thrips was found on gourd, pumpkin, asparagus, water spinach and purple perilla. Strawberry, cucumber, tomato, eggplant, cantaloupe and pepper were investigated at three fixed monitoring sites, and the dominant species of thrips were
T. palmi,
T. hawaiiensis and
F. intonsa. The population of strawberry thrips in greenhouse was significantly higher than that in open field, and the population of thrips in cucumber, tomato and eggplant in greenhouse decreased successively, while the population of thrips in cantaloupe was significantly higher than that in pepper. In general, the population number of thrips in different host growth stages was as follows: flowering stage > fruiting stage > maturity stage > seedling stage. The results can provide scientific basis for accurate control of thrips.
