Dracontomelon duperreanum Pierre and their damages in Zhongshan City were investigated to provide basic data for the prevention and control of those pests. The manual investigation in the planting area of
Dracontomelon duperreanum in Zhongshan City was carried out, and the tools such as sweeping nets and high twig shear were used to collect
Dracontomelon duperreanum, and then the larvae or nymphs collected during the investigations were raised in the laboratory. A total of 11 species of pests on
Dracontomelon duperreanum, belonging to 3 orders and 9 families, were found in Zhongshan City, which were
Neoplocaederus obesus (Gahan),
Corticeus sp.,
Xyloborinus sp.,
Coccotrypes sp.,
Phenolia picta (MacLeay), and
Epuraea ocularis Fairmaire of Coleoptera,
Cossus sp.,
Prasinoxena metaleuca Hampson of Lepidoptera,
Ricania guttata (Walker),
Thabena litaoensis (Yang) and
Erthesina fullo (Thunberg) of Hemiptera. Combined with field observation, specimens and literatures, the basic biological information such as morphological identification, damage location, damage degree and living habits of the above pests were provided. Neoplocaederus obesus (Gahan) of Coleoptera, which could result in the death of trees after persistent damages.
