Research progress in the artificial cultivation of Cordyceps militaris

Cordyceps militaris belongs to the same genera as Ophiocordyceps sinensis, but in different species, its main pharmacological component is close to that of Ophiocordyceps sinensis, possesses function of anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-bacteria and strengthening the body’s immunity, could be a substitute of Ophiocordyceps sinensis. Because of the resource limitation of wild-growing Cordyceps militaris, the artificial cultivation becomes a developing trend. In this study, we introduced the research progresses in the artificial ways of solid culture, liquid culture and silkworm pupae culture of Cordyceps militaris to provide a reference for the artificial cultivation and industrial development of Cordyceps militaris.
