Preliminary report on effect of improved armyworm traps for trapping Prodenia litura fabricius

Effects of improved and traditional armyworm traps on trapping Prodenia litura fabricius were compared under field condition. The results showed that the improved trap could significantly increased the trapping efficiency of attract wicks (supplied by Necon Inc., Ningbo), which could catch 55 myworms per trap in average within a day, was 41 individuals more than that of the traditional traps with significant difference (P＜0.05). Based on the above, the improved armyworm traps were recommended as a carrier of pheromone lure to be used in the practical production to monitor and control the population dynamics of Prodenia litura fabricius.
