Introduction test on North American Begonia in Sha County

Two North American Begonia varieties, ‘Yadangsi’ and ‘Gaoyuanhong’, were introduced and planted experimentally in Sha County of Fujian from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The results showed that, based on observation on introduction for three years, the two varieties were both with high adaptability with the performing of drought, cold, and heat resistance; and good growth condition in the aspects of plant height, stem diameter, crown width, branch number, etc. Therefore, they were both suitable for further introduction and extension. But it should be paid more attention on the control of pests and diseases owing to their moderate pest-resistance.
