The test of spawn culture medium formulas for Pleurotus ostreatu cultivated by Pennisetum sp.

The study was conducted to screen the best culture medium formula for Pleurotus ostreatu cultivated by Pennisetum sp,using three stage system screening method.The results showed that the best formula for Pleurotus ostreatu cultivated by Pennisetum sp.was 42% of Pennisetum sp.,35% of Dicranopteris dichotoma,20% of wheat bran,2% of gypsum and 1% of lime,with 63% of water content.When using this formula,the mycelium of Pleurotus ostreatu grew fast.The average yield was 770.85 g per bag,and the biological efficiency was 102.78%,there were no significant difference comparing to the formula with cottonseed hulls.In conclusion,Pennisetum sp.can be used to replace cottonseed hulls for Pleurotus ostreatu cultivation.
