Comparison test on new varieties of balsam pear

In order to screen the suitable balsam pear variety for further popularized in cultivation, six newly introduced varieties, including "Qisheng 201" and others were comparatively tested on agronomic characters, yield, and adverse resistance with variety "Xiyuan" as control. The results showed that "Minxiu No.5" and "Xiangshuai No.2" were suitable for large-area cultivation in Zhangping, the yield of which were 12.6% and 8.2% higher than the control, respectively. They were both medium varieties, with long and conical fruit with deep green color, the average weight of single fruit reached 0.7 kg, plants grow vigorously, and with high stress resistance in Zhangping.
