Abstract
The pollen viability of the male parent of spong gourd at different time was determined, and the effects of different pollination time on fruit setting, the yield and quality of seeds were investigated. The results showed that the pollen viability of the male parent of spong gourd increased gradually with time, but the pollen germination rates measured at 16:00, 16:30 and 17:00 had not significant difference; the fruit setting rate increased with the passing of pollination time, and the setting rate of 16:00 to 17:00 pollination was higher and the rising trend was slower; the effect of different pollination time on 1000-seed weight was not significant; the effect of pollination at 16:00, 16:30 and 17:00 on the number of seeds per cucumber was not significant; the germination rate of seeds increased with flowering time, the germination rates of seeds pollinated at 16:00, 16:30, and 17:00 were significantly different from those of 15:00 and 15:30.
