Effects and Countermeasures of Hail Disaster on Flue-Cured Tobacco Production in Songxi County

Hail disaster is one of the main meteorological disasters for flue-cured tobacco production in Nanping City. It mainly occurs between March and May when tobacco plants are growing in field. Tobacco plants are stricken by hail, leading holes in leaves, even main stem broken and leaves fallen. In this case, the plant is infected by diseases in lesion and is got lodged, then it would affect yield and quality of tobacco leaves and bring about economic loss. Based on occurring period of hail disaster in flue-cured tobacco production and the damaging level, some well-directed remedial measures lowering farmer's loss should be taken to provide better service for production of flue-cured tobacco in Songxi County.
