Preliminary Report on Introduction of Small Fruit Watermelon Varieties in Early Spring

Six new early-maturing small-fruit watermelon varieties were introduced and compared with the current main cultivar Heimeiren to identify the high yield, disease resistance, quality and commerciality of the new varieties. The results showed that Taiwanese Big-Fruit Heimeiren, Xinxiaolan and Early Spring Xiuyu No.2 had better comprehensive performance, these three varieties could be used as early spring small fruit watermelon varieties in Quanzhou area for popularization and planting.
