Abstract
The shallow ecological cultivation techniques of Chinese yam are adopted through the extensive cultivation management modes, such as not deep ploughing and soil turning, laying u-shaped groove, moisture conservation, and not leading tendril, which can not only reduce the irrigation amount, promote the absorption and utilization of fertilizer, and reduce the application amount of fertilizer and pesticide, but also can be applied with wide range including in the farmland, barren hills and slopes, young orchards and sparse forests. The characteristics of Mapu Yam No.1, a new variety of Chinese yam, were introduced in this paper, and then its shallow ecological cultivation techniques were summarized including soil preparation, laying u-shaped groove and filling matrix, the selection and treatment of seeds, sowing and mulching, field management, pest control and timely harvesting, etc.
