Research on the Cross Fruitfulness of Dendrobium Nobile

    • In order to improve the success rate and setting percentage of the hybridization of Dendrobium nobile and select the excellent cross parent, 30 germplasm resources of Dendrobium nobile were studied on their cross fruitfulness by using the conventional cross pollination technology. The results showed that: among the 48 cross combinations of Dendrboium, 20 cross combinations obtained the normal mature fruits, accounting for 41.7% of the total number of cross combinations, and the setting percentage was 12.5%-100.0%. The setting percentages of the other 28 cross combinations were 0, showing extremely incompatibility. So, seven native species were selected as the suitable parent materials for breeding, including Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Dendrobium officinale, Dendrobium huoshanense, Dendrobium primulinum, Dendrobium aphyllum, Den.parishii, Dendrobium anosmum. While among the 43 cross combinations of Dendrobium phalaenopsis, 23 cross combinations obtained the normal mature fruits, accounting for 53.5% of the total number of cross combinations, and the setting percentage was 41.2%-100.0%. The setting percentages of the other 17 cross combinations were 0, showing extremely incompatibility. So, six native species were selected as the suitable parent materials for breeding, including Dendrobium phalaenopsis Simianfou, Xiangjiangmeiren, Shuifurong, D128, D123 and Hongfenjiaren.
