    Research Progress of Plant Bioreactor Expression Systems

    • Plants are emerging as a promising platform for recombinant protein production due to time and cost efficiency, scalability, lack of harboured mammalian pathogens and possession of the machinery for eukaryotic post-translational protein modification.Transgenic plants are gaining increasing attention from the industry as a natural bioreactor for the production of industrial and chemical products. Plant bioreactor mainly consists of stable expression system and transient expression system. Here, we overview the advantages and disadvantages of different expression systems and their research progress, and the development trend of plant bioreactor was also described. In order to lay a theoretical foundation for the development and application of plant bioreactor.
