Abstract
In order to clarify the effect of light quality on the growth of Isochrysis galbana, fucoxanthin content and fatty acid content, Isochrysis galbana was cultured under four different light qualities (white light, blue light, green light and red light), and then the cell number, stem cell weight, fucoxanthin content, fatty acid content and various fatty acid composition content were determined. The results showed that Isochrysis galbana obtained the highest cell number, fucoxanthin content and DHA content cultivated in blue light. But the weight of stem cells cultivated in white light was the largest, followed by red light; the fatty acid content was the highest cultivated in red light, followed by green light. In summary, Isochrysis galbana could regulate its growth and the accumulation of fucoxanthin and various fatty acids by different wavelengths of light.
