Abstract
In order to enrich the new type of flower color of Anthurium andraeanum varieties and meet the diversified market demand, a new variety of purple Anthurium andraeanum was bred. With Sensa as the female parent and White King as the male parent, a new variety of purple Anthurium andraeanum was bred by using the artificial hybridization, sterile seeding, seedling emergence, individual plant screening, molecular identification, tissue cultivation & expanding propagation and multipoint test. The results showed that Mingnong Qingcheng, the new variety of purple Anthurium andraeanum, had the characteristics of perennial flowering, long florescence, strong disease resistance, and good adaptability, with higher ornamental value. The variety was awarded the certificate of new plant variety right issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in July 2020 (Variety Right Number: CNA20162141.4). Mingnong Qingcheng had medium & compact plant type and strong growth vigor, with the average plant height of 48.84 cm and the crown width of 82.82 cm. The leaves of Mingnong Qingcheng were moderate ovoid in shape with shiny green color. The spathes could be distinguished by shiny purple color with moderate ovoid in shape, and significantly positioned above the leaves. The spadixes were dark purple and upright. The SNP site and phylogenetic tree analysis of GBS-seq showed that there were differences at the molecular level between Mingnong Qingcheng and its parents and their genetic relationship was close.
