Abstract
Kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) was a fluorescence-based homogeneous genotyping technique, which could perform the biallelic genotyping detection on the single nucleotide polymorphism sites and insertion/deletion polymorphisms in the genome. It had the advantages of rapid detection, low cost and high accuracy. The composition, amplification principle and reaction steps of KASP detection system were described in this paper, as well as its advantages over the traditional SNP detection methods. Then, the current research progresses in animal genetic identification, functional gene analysis and molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) assisted breeding were summarized, in order to provide reference for the application of KASP technology in animal field.
