A New High-quality Red-fleshed Sweet Potato Cultivar —‘Longshu No.232’

‘Longshu No.232’ is a new sweet potato variety bred by Longyan Institute of Agricultural Sciences through natural hybridization using ‘Yanshu No.5’ as female parent. It was passed the National Crop New Variety Registration in 2024 with the number GDP Sweet Potato（2024）3500029. It is suitable for fresh consumption, with a growth period of approximately 135 days. Its tuber is of spindle shape with red peel and orange flesh. The dry matter rate of 26.14% and extraction rate of 16.38%. The tuber tastes fragrant, sweet, delicate meat and less fiber. It is resistant to Fusarium disease and stem nematode disease, medium resistant to black spot and root rot and susceptibility to bacterial wilt . It is suitable for planting in Fujian, especially in sandy coastal areas.
