Abstract
There were abundant forest resources in southern China. The cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials under the forest is an important way to solve the contradiction between the depletion of wild medicinal materials and the growth of market demand, thereby achieving the “symbiosis between forests and medicinal plants”. At present, four kinds of characteristic medicinal materials planted under the forest in southern China, including Polygonatum cyrtonema, Paris polyphylla, Dendrobium officinale and Ganoderma lucidum, were all medicinal materials in great demand in the market. Although some progress has been made in the primary processing of these medicinal materials, there were still many problems, such as the backward primary processing technology, insufficient development of deeply processing products, and lack of uniform standards for the quality evaluation systems, which restricted the large-scale development of the processing industry. By focusing on the four kinds of characteristic medicinal materials under the forest in southern China, the research progress of their primary processing technology, deeply processing product technology, research and development, and industrial development trend was summarized, which provided theoretical support for the high-quality development of the medicinal materials industry under the forest in southern China.
