Breeding and High-yield Cultivation Techniques of a New High-quality Peanut Variety Minhua No.17 in Fujian Province

Minhua 17 is a new peanut cultivar selected through the pedigree method after crossing Zhongkai No.1 as the female parent with Longhua No.11 as the male parent. This variety participated in the comparative test of peanut lines organized by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in 2016—2017, and participated in the regional test of peanut in Fujian Province in 2018—2019, all of which showed high and stable yield. This variety had erect and compact plants, a moderate growth period, numerous main and lateral branches, a high number of fruits, a high percentage of full pods, a high kernel yield, strong comprehensive traits, and strong adaptability, making it suitable for being popularized and planted in Fujian Province. In July 2021, it passed the national non-major crop variety registration, with the registration number of GPD Peanut (2021) 350094. The parent source, breeding process, yield performance and characteristics of Minhua No.17 were introduced in this paper, and its high-yield cultivation techniques were summarized, so as to provide reference for its popularization and application.
