Parent Characteristics and High-yielding Seed Production Techniques of a New Hybrid Rice Variety Maoyou 039

Abstract
To accelerate the promotion and application of new rice varieties, this paper summarizes the characteristics of the parents of high-quality hybrid rice Maoyou 039 and its high-yield seed production techniques suitable for Quanzhou region based on field production practices.Through staggered sowing of Maoyou 039 parents and field observation of their agronomic traits, the results show that the female parent Maoxiang A features rice blast resistance and stable male sterility, yet exhibits reduced flowering quantity and weakened stigma vitality under high temperature conditions.The male parent Quanhui 039 is characterized by strong tillering ability, vigorous growth and abundant pollen supply.In Quanzhou area, sowing is conducted in mid-to-late June with heading occurring in mid-to-late September, and the sowing interval between female and male parents is about 15 days. Rational application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can enhance the stigma vitality and flowering performance of the female parent. Appropriate regulation of gibberellin dosage on male parents combined with artificial supplementary pollination can easily achieve high yield in hybrid rice seed production.
