    Introduction experiment of new cowpea variety “Zhujiang No.1”

    • A simple comparison experiment of spring planting and fall planting cowpea varieties were carried out by using new introduced cowpea variety Zhujiang No.1 and local cowpea variety Mingjiang No.1 respectively. And then a 2-year’s extension and demonstration was also conducted. The results showed that, Zhujiang No.1 had better comprehensive characters, the yields of spring planting and fall planting were 2207.33 kg/667 m2 (33109.95 kg/hm2 ) and 1374.70 kg/667 m2 ( 20620.5 kg/hm2) and increased by 12.75% and 24.15% respectively than that of Mingjiang No.1. It was suitable for further demonstrated in Shaxian and the region with similar climatic condition.
